Vazhakkappam( Banana fry)- a kerala snack


1. Ripe plantains(Nenthrapazham) -2
2. All purpose flour -2 cups
3. Egg -1
4. Sugar- 1/2 cup ( can be adjusted according to the taste)
5. A pinch of baking soda(optional)

Method

Step 1

Cut the plantains lengthwise.



Step 2

Mix the all purpose flour, egg and sugar and baking soda with water to a medium consistency(neither too thick or too watery). Vegetarians can omit egg. It just helps in binding the flour to the plantain.



Step 3

Dip the slices in the flour and deep fry in oil till it becomes golden color.



Serve while hot!!!
